One of the best ways to ensure success on your weight loss program is to keep yourself accountable—always.

If you’re feeling lifeless or flat, you know the impact that can have on you: days feel much longer, and you lose the feeling of joy in your normal activities. While everyone has times like this, it doesn’t have happen. Here are six ways you can make your days seem more vital and less routine.

1. Set goals each day.
While this can seem a little tedious, it can be surprisingly invigorating, especially if you include some small goals that help you feel inspired. Think beyond routine here for things like “buy flowers for the living room” or “sit down and call an old friend.” When you accomplish each goal, check it off your list. Then you can look back and see just how much you actually do.

2. Get moving in the morning.
Okay, maybe you’re not a morning person. Still, there’s something about
working out in the morning that can really infuse you with a jolt of energy.
You don’t have to go through an entire fitness routine. Take a walk, or set aside the time for yoga or stretching exercises. You’ll be surprised by how alive it can make you feel.

3. Eat often but less.

4. Take breaks.
Everyone’s busy, and you’re no exception, but there’s something negative that can happen if you keep pushing yourself. Stand up, stretch, walk outside and take a few deep breaths. You’ll be surprised at how just a few short minutes can bring new meaning into the rest of your day.

5. Watch your thoughts.
You’ve probably found yourself thinking something like this: I can’t wait to get through today; then there are just three days left to the weekend. Instead of doing this, give yourself permission to look forward to the day ahead, excited about its possibilities. That excitement in your thinking can carry over into all your actions.

6. Look to the East.
Eastern practices like Yoga or acupressure have been in place thousands of years and are wonderful ways to help you. These practices can literally open up energy channels in your body that can get clogged and blocked. While there are people trained in acupressure (many are called shiatsu massage practitioners), there are also exercises you do yourself that can also be helpful.

No matter how lackluster your days, getting energized doesn’t have to be drawn-out or complicated. It’s something you can begin to do today!
