One of the greatest ways to make your weight loss more productive is to find a partner or a buddy to share your journey with.
The first and most obvious question should be, “How do I go about finding a buddy?” That’s easy! There are so many people already looking to lose weight (or even people who are already on NutriSystem).
To help get you started on your buddy quest, here are five great ways that you can go about searching for fellow NutriSystem companions.
1. Online. First and foremost, have you visited the member section of NutriSystem.com? If not, you’re missing an amazing support group of people just like you who are losing weight with this program. In addition to keeping up with the latest news as well as keeping your weight loss information up to date, it’s a great place to meet people. In addition to chat rooms, there are a number of different boards geared to your specific needs. Are you a bride to be? Try the Wedding Winner board. If you’re a guy, head over to Dan Marino’s Team for some guy talk. Whatever you’re looking for, you’ll find a discussion board that’s right for you. So log on and surf around a little. You’re bound to find someone with whom to strike up a conversation.
2. At Your Job. These are people you work with every day, so you should have a general idea of their lifestyles, habits, and, if you eat with them, their diets. Seek out those who you know are already on a diet. Even if they’re not on NutriSystem, it helps to have someone nearby who understands where you’re coming from.
3. At the Gym. We don’t expect you to go up to strangers in the gym and ask them to be weight loss buddies. However, as you continue to meet people while you workout, you get to know people’s habits, patterns, likes, dislikes, etc. The guy on the treadmill next to you may be in exactly the same situation you are. Maybe he’d make a perfect NutriSystem buddy. It’s just like making any other friend in life, except this time, you have an instant connection with someone through a shared interest in weight loss.
4. Friends. This should be easy; they’re already your buddies. You already know them and like them. Why not take your friendship to a new level by creating a dedicated front against that stubborn weight? Studies show that people are influenced by and/or have an influence on their friends’ weights. Take advantage of this! There’s no better way to lose weight than with a friend who can help to keep you motivated (as long as you’re willing to do the same!).
5. Family. If you have several family members seeking to lose weight, it makes a lot of sense to do it together. In fact, this works very well for families living under the same roof. If you’re eating the same dinner, you’ll be sharing the same healthy foods! So invite your spouse to be a part of your plan. Or invite the kids. Either way, working together is a huge benefit to maintaining a weight loss plan, and who’s more important to share the success with than your family?
So keep an eye out for buddies! Losing weight is so much easier when you have someone to motivate you as well as share your successes!
